Since 1908, the family-owned company HIMA Paul Hildebrandt GmbH has consistently shaped markets and industries with innovative solutions over four generations. Since 1970, HIMA has dedicated the entire focus on functional safety. Today, HIMA is the world's leading specialist for safety-related automation solutions. In 2019, a team comprising of HIMA employees was set up to think about establishing the development of new business models within the HIMA Group but also beyond the HIMA core business. They named the project ‘PAULA’, inspired of PAUL Hildebrandt, who took over the company from his father in 1929. The project team dreamed big like the robot Paula when she is looking into the horizon and dreams to reach the mountaintop. Like usually, developing something new is kind of a rocky road. You have to be smart, focused, brave, persistent, and especially innovative to reach your goal. So did the Paula-Team and the project ‘Paula’ became the new HIMA innovation lab himalaya. The smart and brave robot Paula overcomes all obstacles, she never gives up, activates her turbo legs, gets the himalaya-key on the mountain peak and transforms to ‘Power Paula’ before she proudly presents himalaya’s functioning.
